This conversation is carried over from FB, Twitter, etc. How do you rate yourself when it comes to ethics?   Always, mostly, somewhat, seldom or never ethical.   Which one is the best fit for your?   After reflecting on this subject do you think there are different golden rules for different people depending on their social or political status?

John Maxwell book titled "Ethics 101" state that one of our problems dealing with ethics is never a business issue, social issue or political issue, it's a personal issue.  People say they want others to act with integrity but in fact don't act that way themselves toward others. Why is that?

John Maxwell states " The same person who cheats on his taxes or steals office supplies wants honesty and integrity from the corporation whose stock he buys, the politician he votes for, and the client he deals with in his own business."

John Maxwell book titled  "Ethics 101" states there are 3 reasons a person makes unethical choices.
1. We do what's most convenient.  2. We do what we must to win and 3. We rationalize our choices with relativism.    Do you think these reasons are true?   Do you believe there are other reasons that people make unethical choices?   If so please state them and define the reasons.

Business ethics; is there a such thing?   Why do you think people make unethical choices? Does Enron, WorldComm ring a bell?

In the book of Proverbs we find many profound truths, that when applied to our lives, will bring great victories. This verse about anger is one such truth. To experience anger is not sinful, as the Bible says that God Himself is angry about certain things. Anger is an emotion that every human being experiences at times. In fact, we should be angry when we see injustice and ill treatment toward human beings. God is angry when He sees the things that sinful people commit, that bring sorrow and tragedy to others who are innocent. He never wanted humans to kill one another or to exploit one another. The sin is not in experiencing anger, but rather in how we deal with it. We can turn our anger into prayer, which in turn can change the things we see that are wrong.
If we allow our anger to turn into vindictiveness and we practice the same kind of evil that was sent our way, then we become just as guilty as the one who we are angry at. We are told in scripture that we are to overcome evil with good and not to render evil for evil.

Your thoughts?

If you had the time,money & freedom to do anything you want, what would it be?  What would your dream life be & why are you not living it!   I would love to travel the world with no cares or concerns.  I would purchase me a Harley Davidson Chopper and ride out with my spiked helmet, jeans and biker club jacket.   I would ride till I was far away from the city and take my helmet off so I could feel the wind blowing in my hair...man what a feeling!   What's holding me back...life responsibilities...plan and simple  Or I would love to be a beach bum...just living off the land.   Ok, pump your breaks...I do need some modern conveniences!...lol

So I was reading the news on MSN yesterday and it stated that "4 witnesses change stories in Trayvon Martin shooting"  with all the back and forth about him attacking and not attacking, do you think we will at some point know the real story?   Do you really think he will get convicted?  Look at the Casey Anthony story as a comparison.  Your thoughts

Life-long learning, information literacy & critical thinking. How does these ideas apply to you in your field of work or as a scholar?  We talked about clear communication on yesterday.  How does the ability to communicate effectively fit in with these ideas, and with your own experience and ideas?

How does the lack of clear and concise communication in your workplace effect your projects and delivery schedule?  
Even the United States Space Shuttle program to suffered two fatal lessons learned that could have been avoided. It appears that in each case the communication of the Challenger and Columbia when concerns were brought to the attention of management to postpone the launch or move forward, the engineers were always told that they didn't have enough data or their data was incomplete or their concerns never made it to the right person who was willing to make the decision to pull the plug on the launch.
 

Obstacles

What does adversity and obstacles mean to you?  Today as I sit back and reflect on my co-workers husband journey into his next chapter, I think about all the little stuff we worry about.   Remembering that what ever stress you may be going through is nothing compared to someone else obstacle they are facing in life.  When you are facing tough situations, sit back and think how much worse it must be for that other person you may not even know.  I will leave you today with a song that always inspires me when I am feeling low.   Perhaps this may help you today.
